Cornerstone Assembly of God

Joji - A Story of God's Grace

I am now two years old in the Lord and since I became a child of God, He is continuously leading me to be conformed to His will. God is no respecter of persons, for He accepted me for who I am. He called and chose me and gave me His gift of eternal life. In Jeremiah 1:5 the Lord says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Now I know why my brother brought me to Cornerstone. It is in this church where I met the Lord. Surely this is God’s plan for my life! As my first step of faith, I joined the Pag-ibig Lifegroup where I came to know more about God and that eventually led me to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My Christian walk is leading me to know God’s purpose for my life. Changes are taking place. I have learned that prayer is our way of communicating with God and is also our best weapon against the enemy, Satan. Through prayer and God’s mercy, He loosened my tongue so that I can speak – I give praise to God for helping me speak audibly after some events in my life. He has dealt not only with my tongue, but also with my timidity to face and talk to people. I can now participate actively in our Lifegroup and ask questions when I don’t understand. I still have many limitations to overcome, but I feel God is always right by my side to help me. As Paul said in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I can lean on Jesus and depend on him.

Years before this, I was seriously sick in a hospital in the Philippines due to a medical accident. The doctors told my family I had little hope to live. But through God’s grace and mercy, I survived. It was a miracle from God. “Thank You, Lord.” Because God chose me, as I mentioned earlier, He has allowed me to feel His love and care so that I can serve Him by sharing His love to others.

I was laid off from my job in the latter part of 2008. Instead of feeling depressed, I tried to look for another job. Unfortunately, I have not yet found one. So I decided to make myself available as a volunteer worker in a hospital here in Boston. Though I am not paid as a volunteer, I am happy in my work and happier that I am able to help others. Christ equipped me to be a witness in my workplace. My work may not be considered a career, but I know in my heart that I am doing what the Lord wants me to do for my brethren. Colossians 3:23 tells us, “Whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men.”

For all the things that have happened in my life I can honestly say I am truly blessed. I give back to you, Lord, all the honor and glory in Jesus most holy and precious Name.
